Rent Lethbridge Interview

By Interviewer at 06/19/07 11:29
Name of your website?

Rent Lethbridge

Your name?

Brett Holmes

Your Location (city, etc)

Lethbridge

When did you start your website and why?

Rent Lethbridge was inspired by a personal experience when I was looking for a place to rent when he moved to Lethbridge in the summer of 2002. Going through what many renters go through — until now.

I was going to make a website for my own house in case I ever wanted to find renters, then I thought to myself "Why not let other people list their houses on here too", so it began.

Please give us a short summary of your website, business model, etc

What would a potential renter want? How convenient would looking at rentals online be? This was a gap that needed to be filled. The gap is now bridged by something everyone with a computer can enjoy. This was done by creating a site where landlords and renters could connect — that site is Rent Lethbridge.

What has been the most difficult part of creating and running your website?

Starting up. Getting people to get on board. Even giving away listings is difficult sometimes as people don't see the value of the service until they try it.

What has been the easist part of operating your website?

It's fun. It's easy to stay involved because I enjoy it. Plus it's very popular. It's what students and families down here need.

Who maintains your website and why?

I do. I'm the only employee at Rent Lethbridge. I know exactly what I want, but that doesn't mean I don't get some input from friends, who help a lot in terms of feedback.

What are your views on Search Engines? Have they helped or hindered your website?

Some search engines I rank very high, but it's discouraging to see other websites, that someone in another city made, rank higher than mine when mine clearly has more (and better) content. Ranking higher in my case is a must.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

I come from a newspaper background so I'm very partial to advertising. I have a presence in the student communities here in Lethbridge as well I advertise in the daily paper. I had bigger advertising plans but it turns out just simple classified ads are very effective.

Pre-Construction US Real Estate and Condos Interview

By Interviewer at 06/11/07 20:50
Name of your website?

Pre-Construction US Real Estate and Condos

Your name?

Lesley Masters

Your Location (city, etc)

Seattle

When did you start your website and why?

Four years ago to provide public reviews of various pre-construction condomonium homes and presales real estate in the United States.

Please give us a short summary of your website, business model, etc

Providing an online resource for prospective real estate home buyers in the US who are in the market to either buy a primary residence or an investment property at pre-construction and presales pricing.

What has been the most difficult part of creating and running your website?

Updating the web site is an ongoing process as there are many new preconstruction condos being launched throughout the country on a daily and weekly basis. To provide the most up-to-date and informative details have been the most challenging issues.

What has been the easist part of operating your website?

The easiest part is the technical side as we have a team of professionals and an automated process for publishing real estate content on these condo tower residences.

What was your biggest mistake?

No big mistake!

Who maintains your website and why?

Webmasters and advertising specialists who are professionals at what they do.

Tell us how your business has benefitted from your website?

Provides us the exposure to the real estate presales market as well as some residual income in the form of some advertising.

What are your views on ecommerce and the future of the internet?

Ecommerce is definitely the future of the internet in terms of security, ability to purchase whatever you want online and from the convenience of your own home and at your time.

What are your views on Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?

We believe that search engine optimization is an important part of every business, regardless of whether it is an online driven business or a regular company. However, search engines will need to figure out a way to provide the most relevant content in a clear and easy manner and to strip away all web sites that are not considered useful online.

What are your views on Search Engines? Have they helped or hindered your website?

They have both helped and hindered our web site. The rankings greatly affect the response to our web sites. As much of our content is very important to the general public in terms of info released about new pre-construction condominiums and real estate master planned communities, if we are not found online, thousand of prospective home buyers will not have access to this helpful and useful information.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Optimization online as well as print ads have been very helpful in promoting the site.

What method has been least successful for promoting your website?

Email marketing has not necessarily provided us with the best returns.

What would you like to see change with respect to the internet?

More relevant searches and search engines collaborating to provide the most useful information through search.

Turkey Property Gems Interview

By Interviewer at 06/02/07 14:04
Name of your website?

Turkey Property Gems

Your name?

TPG

Your Location (city, etc)

Fethiye

When did you start your website and why?

Turkey Property Gems was set up by friends who has purchased property in Turkey and now have time on their hands to assist others. We at TPG have gone through the stress of purchasing a property and come out unscathed and wiser. Many of us have help people over the years purchase a property, not only have we been able to point out the hidden cost involved in the purchase process but also have been able to ensure that many have not fallen foul of the law and come away with a bank balance lighter and still no property. We at Turkey Property Gems have at times negotiated a lower price for a property advertised else where in the market.

Our re-sales property has caused a bit of a stir, in Turkey it is usual for estate agents to charge the seller 3% and the Buyer 3%. Turkey Property Gems decided to charge a flat fee on a sliding scale to the seller of £500 for properties upto £50k and £750 upto £75k etc. The buyer of a property is then either passed to an agent to start the buying process and they charge the purchaser 3% or the purchaser can use a local solicitor and pay the legal fee plus the normal purchasing cost not only making a monetary saving but also the benefit of a legal contract, not to mention the peace of mind. Why do we do this? Because we can! No, seriously, we cover our website and administration cost, we are happy and we also get to make many new friends.

Please give us a short summary of your website, business model, etc

To assist purchasers in choosing the right property at the right price. Listening to their requirements and ensuring they are adhered to. When the sun is shining and the surroundings put the purchasers in a state of euphoric Sun stroke, it is easy to lose sight of the original goal.

What has been the most difficult part of creating and running your website?

Contacts, building a regular contact with the resale property owner, keeping them upto speed on events, problems arise when the property has been sold and we have not been informed. But the most difficult part is ensuring that search engines deliver the site to the public.

What has been the easist part of operating your website?

Building a raport with sellers and purchasers.

What was your biggest mistake?

Not starting this business 10years ago!

Who maintains your website and why?

joint effort by owners, and we know nothing about computers or SEO

Tell us how your business has benefitted from your website?

The answer is in the title..

What are your views on ecommerce and the future of the internet?

Pass can we have one on moon walk marathons!

What are your views on Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?

could be made simple for real dummies

What are your views on Search Engines? Have they helped or hindered your website?

They work but not sure how. We follow the instructions on the side of the cornflake box hit the submit button and cross our fingers!

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Magazines, and word of mouth, in other words We shout in the middle of the crowded high street "TURKEY PROPERTY GEMS DOT COM" Free property tomorrow!

What method has been least successful for promoting your website?

Other estate agents websites.

What would you like to see change with respect to the internet?

Dummies search engine for the brain frazzled expats learning new tricks.

You can enter a question of your choice and the answer here:

Would you do this again?

Not in another lifetime. Next time we come back as millionaires !!
